　　(1)it 作为形式主语位于句首，而被替代的真正主语后置。代替不定式(短语)、动名词、that 从句。例如：It’s difficult to learn a foreign language. 学习一门外语是非常困难的。

　　(2)不定式、动名词短语或名词性从句作宾语时，如果后面带有宾语补足语，常用 it 作形式宾语，而把真正的宾语(不定式、动名词短语或名词性从句)放在宾语补足语的后面。例

　　如：I find it easy to get on with Jim. 我发现同吉姆和睦相处很容易。

　　(3)it 还常用在一些固定结构中，例如：

　　① I hate it when people speak with their mouths full.

　　我不喜欢人们嘴里塞满东西时说话。

　　② I would appreciate it if you could come to my birthday party.

　　如果你能来参加我的生日聚会，我将不胜感激。

　　③ I take it that you don’t agree with me.

　　我的理解是：你不同意我的观点。

　　④ I can’t help it if he is so lazy.

　　如果他这么懒，我也没办法。

　　⑤ See to it that the windows are shut.

　　千万注意窗子要关好。

　　⑥ You may depend on it that we’re honest.

　　你可以相信我们是诚实的。

　　⑦ We all take it for granted that James will win the game.

　　我们都理所当然地认为詹姆斯将赢得这场比赛。
